In late 1993, the
Administrator and Director of Marketing of Samaritan Hospital, along
with a local attorney, began to discuss the feasibility of a support
group for the hospital, separate from its personnel. The ground work was
laid and proposed by-laws were drawn for the Samaritan Memorial
Foundation. By late January of 1994, a twelve member board had accepted
the obligation of administering the foundation and the Articles of
Incorporation were officially approved.
The Samaritan Memorial
Foundation supports the hospital's goal of providing quality health care
for Macon and the surrounding communities. While certain highly
technical equipment and expertise are too expensive to provide locally,
the foundation wants to assist hospital efforts to improve current services
while adding new ones that are essential and feasible.
